Monsoon in Sedona AZ - 2022
Rick's World of Sedona Weather - Sedona-Weather.com
We had a very unusual June. Monsoon officially starts on June 15th. However, we don't normally see monsoon conditions until mid-July. Well this year, we started getting the shift right after the official start of the monsoon. June is usually a pretty dry month with very little cloud cover. So the temps remain high. In fact, June is usually the warmest month of the year. Sedona got the first rain on June 23rd. We actually had the most rain ever in June at .79 inches. For many years, the June totals have equaled zero rain. Because we got so much rain this year, the Forest Service lifted the ban on campfires.
The high temperature for the month was 103.9 this year versus 112.3 in 2021! The average temperature was 1 degree less than 2021. The additional cloud cover which acts as a blanket probably kept the temperatures from going lower.
