Watch a Herd of Javelina in the Cottages At Coffeepot!
When most people see a Javelina pronounced (Have-ah-LEE-nah), they think it is a big hairy hog. Some think they are big rodents because of their long, razor-sharp canine teeth. Again, that is not correct.
Javelina is a species of collared peccary. They rest during the day's heat, but they are most active at dawn and dusk. They give off an unmistakable odor that strengthens the closer you get to them.
Families roam together. Generally, they are found in a herd of 10 or so. This video shows 13 together. I have seen as many as 30-40 grazing in a group.
Eyesight is bad. They rely on scent and sound. They do spook easily, which will cause the hair on their back to stand up.
They are new-world creatures and are fascinating to observe.
In the past two decades, Sedona has had only one White Christmas. But today, we had our first White Easter. We were amazed to wake up to snow this Easter morning. By the time it had ended, there were 2.5 inches of wet snow... The temperature went from 49º to 33º in a matter of minutes. By the afternoon, it was all but gone, and the sun was peeking out of the clouds.
Style and character exemplify this Sedona Southwest classic that will pique your senses as you saunter through this tree-lined enclave with fruit trees, red rock views & separate casita. Enter the main house through the huge great room with a fireplace & red rock views.
As you transition from the great room to what could be the semi-formal dining room or entertainment area, you will also enjoy views of a tree-lined brick courtyard with many areas which leads into the kitchen.
The Kitchen Was Remodeled To The Studs
The recent full remodel of the kitchen shows the owners' attention to detail which includes: a 6-burner 36'' stove with commercial custom hood, stunning subway Cottage Bianco tile backsplash highlighting the Alder wood cabinetry in two tones & complementary granite counters. The beams were meticulously laid.
There are two large skylights that will provide natural lighting and an open ceiling feel. When needed, you will enjoy plenty of lighting throughout the kitchen. The cream porcelain plank tile floors with stain-resistant grout provide a balanced contrast to this chef’s kitchen. There is a breakfast bar that differentiates the kitchen from the semi-formal dining area.
Comfortable Semi-Formal Dining Area
This dining area is positioned between the remodeled kitchen and the sizable great room and is spacious. A half wall separates it from the great room. The dining area can be used as a daily eating area along with the breakfast bar, or it can be dressed up for more formal use.
An Anderson sliding door showcases the meticulously landscaped courtyard to add to your dining enjoyment. The great room also has a sizable area on the other side of the wall that adds flexibility for dining or entertaining guests.
Roomy Great Room with Flexible Space
The great room is very spacious and can accommodate a custom floor plan of your choosing. There is more than enough room to entertain a large party, or you can create a floor plan that can meet your personal preferences for relaxation or entertainment.

The casita has a spacious great room that is warmed by a Kiva or beehive-style wood-burning fireplace. There is enough room for a large table and chairs and comfortable and relaxing furniture. This Casita is large enough to entertain and enjoy the company of others.
The cute kitchen has a Spanish-style theme and everything one needs to make a full meal for family and guests. Not only does it have a window, but there is also a skylight for additional natural lighting.
The large bedroom offers views of the courtyard and a separate courtyard entrance. This room is large enough for a king-size bed, side tables, and lighting as well as a sitting area (out of view). This would make a very nice rental or separate suite for a family member or guest.
